Beyond the numbers

In this day and age we are so caught up with numbers.  Sometimes it’s used as a measure of encouragement. How many likes did I get on my social media page? How many hits on my blog? Some times its used as a measure of growth? What’s my credit score? How much money do I have in the bank? How many pounds have I gained/lost? Other times it’s a measure of our successes and achievements in life. What’s my net worth? How much have I saved for retirement? But it’s interesting to note that these measures alone don’t define us, they don’t tell us the story of our lives or about how to enjoy our lives. They are only performance indicators.

As an accounting professor, I often say that numbers are my friends, words sometimes get me in trouble but numbers never let me down. I also say that there is always a story behind the numbers. For this reason, this blog was created to look behind the numbers to find the real story. The real story of what you may ask? The real story of life.  On this page, you will find a personal and professional space for words of encouragement, growth and life.
